Zino Pece is an artist based in South Wales. His paintings are a fusion of elements that merge to present the viewer with a contemporary rendition of diverse themes. Be the subject an ordinary object or a deeper insight; equal weight is afforded within the creative process.
Recognition in the sanctity of all things is a guiding principal. The biblical assertion of God’s existence in all things is the foundation through which Pece’s practice accommodates broad exploration. There is a direct correlation of this reasoning within the studio routines. A spontaneous approach to the work and an open minded posture accommodates this universality of imagery. And intimacy with his surroundings, methods and materials forms the staging of Pece’s painterly journeys.
Various surfaces and a boundless range of colours enable the artist to orchestrate his expressive nature with the freedom required. Brushwork and spraying, bold or delicate gestures, various forms of pouring unite, as the guiding eye of the painter, like a conductor, strives towards the realisation of a meaningful statement. Unlike a piece of music which exists in the flow of time, a painting is a static object, yet Pece’s art seeks to portray a spectacle that appears to have life; that breathes. Remarking on Pece’s work, philosopher, critic and champion of Bram Bogart, Marcel Paquet wrote…’a river of fire…flowing and at the same time rhythmical. It’s between being and becoming.’
